In the evening, hindus pray to goddess by chanting hymns and mantras offerings sweets to the Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha.

Goddess Laxmi is the deity of wealth. Performing rituals result in the increase of wealth to the household and prosperity in the venture undertaken by the bhaktas (devotees). However, appeasing the goddess may also lead to other desirable changes as this pooja removes obstacles in the alleyway of the devotee and spread happiness in his/ her family. Lord Ganesha is also worshiped along with laxmi for propitious beginnings of the auspicious proceeds.

The four hands of goddess laxmi represent dharma (duty), kama (craving), artha (wealth) and moksha (liberation). The coins dropping from her lower left hands denote prosperity in all the directions which is the reason people worship her for wealth. Goddess wears red color saree with golden embroidery which indicates abundance. This strongly states that gold is a symbol of Laxmi.

Some of the most important elements needed in pooja are silver or gold coins, rice, coconut, five leaves, marigold flower pot, red vermillion (supari), thali, oil lamps or diya and Laxmi-Ganesha idol.
