How Celebrities Celebrate Holi Festival in India!

 Holi is one of the most stunning festivals of India, the general notion about Holi is that it is the festival of colours but it has more to it. It is being celebrated from pre historic times and has not only mythological but social and cultural significance too. Holi festival consists of two day celebration.

Holi is associated with different legends in different religions. The most prominent is the chronicle of Hiranyakshyap of a king who thought himself to be god and wanted everyone to worship him. He got furious when Prahlad (his own son) worshiped, Lord Vishnu instead of him. He called his sister, Holika and asked her to sit in bonfire along with Prahlad, as she had garment that could protect her from getting burned. However the garment got blown away to Prahlad, Holika got burned and Prahlad was not harmed. From this legend the burning of Holika called “Holika Dahan” is celebrated on the first day.

Holi also symbolizes the extreme enchantment that Lord Krishna took in playing Holi with Radha. Another myth associated with Holi when Ogress Pootana tried to kill baby Krishna by breast feeding him poisonous milk, Lord Krishna not only suck milk but her blood too and killed her. Holi was celebrated in Gokul, Lord Krishna’s town on the victory of good over evil.

Indian movies have symbolized holi beautifully with mesmerizing songs full of bright colours and vividness.
